Need some trumpet model / comparison opinions?
Since I started playing in 5th grade, I've used a free trumpet from my sister's ex. I'm not a trumpet expert, so I'll just list everything I see -
It's brass, and says "Blessing Scholastic, Elkhart Ind - USA" and on the side of the 2nd valve it has a number - 456666
I recently got a new trumpet to start my freshman year in high school. It's a nearly new professional silver Benge 65b, made in USA, and on the 2nd valve it says 636517. I got it for $600, including a discount of around $120 from a trade in I made with my sister's old clarinet.
So my question to any experts- what more did I get with this trumpet compared to the Blessing? is it worth it? I plan to stay in band all 4 years of school and perhaps beyond, depending on my college. so in the long run, will this be a good purchase? or should I have put it off towards something better
this trumpet will be used for concert band, as I still have my blessing for marching band.
just to let you know im not a trumpet player but anyways. I'm not familer with Blessing or Benge so I can't really compare. You got a new horn, so thats always exciting. Either way, the two horns should be good enough for highschool.
If you intend on continuing music after then you might want to invest in a better quality trumpet. You should see how you feel when that time comes. If you intend on getting a better trumpet, then you can try the Bach Stradivariu, and Yamaha Xeno. Those two are farily popular and I've seen alot players with them. They can be around $2000 - $2500. They're kinda expensive; that's nothing to me since im a tuba player, but it'll work for post-secondary.
hope that helps
